Karate is a martial art of Japanese origin that deals defensive moves through evasive body movements with blocking and counter attacks using kicks, punches and strikes. Joint locks, restraints and takedowns are also used.
Karate is used for Self Defense; to instill confidence and a way to challenge and keep the mind and body healthy.
At West River School of Karate, we believe that karate classes are not just a physical practice, but a way of life. Our classes focus not only on self defence techniques, but also on building character, discipline, and respect. We strive to create a positive and supportive environment where students of all ages can grow and develop both physically and mentally.
